Doug’s blue number 29 modified in the pit area

IN LOVING MEMORY / BERGHEGER-POHREN RACING

Doug
Bergheger.

November 15, 1977 — October 4, 2020

A cousin. A friend. Part of our racing family.

SIDE BY SIDE IN THE PITS

Different team.
Same racing family.

Doug raced the blue 29 modified for Bergheger-Pohren Racing, an allied team that pitted together with Hamelton Racing. He was our cousin, and his place in this family’s racing story reaches well beyond a car number.

This page keeps a place for Doug: the blue modified, the familiar pit area and the family photographs that bring those days back.

Always part of the family.

BEYOND THE RACETRACK

A life rooted in Keokuk.

Born in Keokuk on November 15, 1977, Doug made the city his lifelong home. His work for the City of Keokuk took him through several departments, including the bridge, Oakland Cemetery and sanitation.

He loved bow-hunting, fishing the Mississippi and riding motorcycles. His obituary remembers an outgoing man who made friends easily and brought energy to the people around him. He was also a member of the Defiant Souls Motorcycle Club.

“Rest Easy, Turtle.”
